Expert Portrait Sessions

The expert directory at newsroom.asu.edu enables broader access to ASU research through the media. Faculty profiles are carefully curated by ASU media relations and unit communicators with the goal of garnering media interest in ASU experts as sources and facilitating connections with faculty members. Faculty are selected based on area of expertise, interest from the media and media experience and/or training in print and broadcast interviews. Experts included in the database are expected to be actively responsive to media requests from ASU media relations and directly from reporters, as journalists generally work on tight deadlines.

Portraits included on the site are readily available for download by the media.

What to wear

Business Casual Attire
We recommend a long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve button up shirt or blouse and a jacket. An off-white shirt paired with a navy or black jacket/blazer is always a safe color combination, but by no means a requirement. We also recommend avoiding khaki pants or light blue jeans, as they tend to show wrinkles and pocket contents much more easily than darker colored bottoms. Please keep in mind that stripes, large patterns/prints or short-sleeved tops tend to limit the photo to casual use only.

Shoes
Unless requested, our portrait sessions typically do not include full body shots so we recommend wearing sneakers or shoes that are comfortable to stand and walk in.

Accessories
Please avoid large jewelry and watches, which can easily become twisted or tangled and result in less usable images. Certain styles of jewelry can also make photographs appear dated more quickly.

Makeup
We do minimal editing and keep our portraits true to life as these are used editorially. Please keep this in mind when applying makeup. There is a lighted mirror in the studio.
